VISIT MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Interactive Information Kiosk

Empire Digital Signs Project

The Objective

Our client sought a set of systems that could provide a modern touch to local tourism. It needed to be resource visitors would be able to utilize to aid in their exploration of a town.

DESIGN CHOICES

Utilizing the branding information provided and the styling visible on their website. I honed these elements to provide harmony with these systems’ appearances with other offerings by our client to tourists. I incorporated curves in the background in particular to create a simplification of a hillscape and outdoors since these towns were tucked into similar natural landscapes. I also encouraged the use of photography cycling through on the idle screen of these devices so passerby could get a glimpse of the eventfulness of the area.

LOCAL BITES

The Local Bites page allows users to tap through local eateries that are listed in order of distance to provide convenience. Contact information for the place is available along with a QR code for people to scan to get a menu they can peruse on their walk over. Each listing also features a photo of the business to help identify the restaurant.

PARKS & REC

Laid out in a similar listing style as the Local Bites page, Parks & Rec’s page includes nearby parks, museums, and libraries. Both pages also offer a button that takes the user to the Montgomery County Tourism website for more listings they can scroll through.

OUR HISTORY

Our History page takes the user through an interactive timeline of the town’s past. They can tap on photographic circles which provide a side pop-up of information related to specific years.

PHOTO BOOTH

The Photo Booth page is a unique feature for such a system. Users can commemorate their trip with a picture that has a special border placed around it. They are prompted to enter their email for a digital receival of it. This helps our client ensure everyone gets a picture since emails are ubiquitous, and it is common practice with these types of photos.
