RDGA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Mobile LED Event Signage
Empire Digital Signs Project
THE OBJECTIVE
Our client was in need of a live-updating scoreboard and way to display promotional material during golf events their organization runs.
CONTENT
There are two key championships our large mobile LED gets used for by the RDGA, The John H. Ryan Memorial Men’s District Champ and the Wilson Fitch Jr. Senior Champ. We’ve done these events for two years now. When first approached, there was much ideation by our team and the client on what all could be displayed. The leaderboard could allow for one-minute interruptions after a full cycle and these events were multi-day, and at least 6 hours each. The content decided on were Thanking Sponsors, showing RDGA brand messaging, encouraging donation, and highlighting hole prizes. This year had even more slides added to spotlight newest Hall of Fame inductees, Foundation Members, and more.
PHOTOGRAPHY
During these events is where I got to see the benefits of my photography studying. I wished for better documentation of our products, especially when in use. I took on the skill of photo-taking with a DLSR Canon camera to ensure our marketing team could have access to more professional stock images we owned. It was fun to be out of the office and on the course capturing shots of players and spectators observing the leaderboard. I got to use this as small research opportunities as well when inquiring about their interest in the board, and what drew them to it.
JOHN H. YRAN MEMORIAL MEN'S DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
For the John H. Ryan Memorial event, there was the request to increase content that provided more background on the man it was named for. I decided to have the banner design that was hung above feature key shots of the passed gentleman. Additional slides were created as asked and offered new understanding for younger players who weren’t educated on the talented golfer.
WILSON FITCH SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Wilson Fitch event is where I utilize motion graphics to provide a more professional feel for spectators. The players were excited by these visuals, making the mobile LED feel like an even more valuable feature to the championship. I reference PGA and other big golfing events to see how motion graphics were styled, also taking inspiration from other sports. It didn’t need to be excessive, but just a bit of movement felt special.
